Today you see tarps being used everywhere, in houses, on trucks, in warehouses, at construction sites and to cover boats and cars. Because of the extensive use of tarps you must understand that all tarps are not the same. Fire retardant tarps come in a variety of colors and material and can be used for a number of purposes. In America there are strict state laws that apply on fire retardant tarps and tarp manufacturers have to comply with these restrictions. Tarps that are used in homes and as canopies should be UV treated and should be fire retardant. Construction tarps are used for covering construction material, providing temporary shelter and for a whole bunch of other uses. Using tarps for covering has become so common that nobody thinks twice about them. The favorite tarp with old timers used to be the canvas tarp, but thankfully they have been replaced with lighter weight tarps. Tarps with fire resistant properties can be distinguished by their color; they are silver or white and not the common blue color. If you plan on covering your car or boat with a tarp make sure it allows the car or boat to breath. When you use it you will come to know why I have said this, or ask the salesman.
