The Future of Hybrid Cars

General

The future of hybrid cars looks very bright indeed. All the manufacturers are spending major amounts on research and development of these cars. 2009 and 2010 will see many new additions and many revisions to the already existing fleet of hybrids. Future hybrids will also tend to move completely to the electric battery platform and gasoline engines will be eventually phased out. It won’t be strange if after around 15 years, every house has a hybrid vehicle which delivers almost zero emissions and is highly efficient when it comes to energy consumption.

But for the coming future, hybrids will have to be gas-electric since they have a clear advantage over electric vehicles when it comes to driving distances. Though, if we negate the advances in technology we can safely say that the most viable and environment friendly future hybrid will be the fuel cell powered vehicles. Though, right now it is crippled by many problems including cost, transportation, storage etc. but eventually scientists and engineers working across the country will find solutions to these problems and get H2 powered vehicles on the road. Fuel-cell vehicles have zero harmful emissions and do not require any fossil fuel as they use hydrogen. These are truly the future hybrids.

The Future Of Hybrid Cars

General

Hybrid cars, particularly this year are on the increase. This, admitedly is mainly due to the cost saving elements due to the global economic crisis as opposed to people becoming much greener, but still, it’s an acheievement. The increase in electric cars as well as the usual gas / diesel conversions has opened the eyes of many car manufacturers to enable them to see that there is a market out there for hybrid cars as opposed to just do-it-yourself conversions. We are all for saving money as much as we are for the environment, so burning less fuel, running more economic tires and less emissions are all things we will be looking for in hybrid cars in the future. Of course it isn’t just about cars. Motorcycle owners can also do their bit for the environment although having personally witnessed some battery bikes in action, I feel that technology is a long way off becoming main stream. Although the launch of the eCycle might encourage further development of the technology. I can only hope that it doesn’t run into the same hurdles that the developers of electric / battery powered cars have faced over the years.
